About Our Client
Our client is a growing SaaS company that helps energy and utility infrastructure operators protect their assets, prevent damage, and manage risk. They are building a new AI-driven risk management platform for pipeline asset integrity, combining a governed data platform built on Databricks and Azure, an AI-powered data ingestion layer, and a reusable analytical layer that runs risk models.
About the Role
We are hiring two mid-level Quality Analysts to own quality end to end on this new platform, across the user interface, APIs and platform services, and the underlying analytics and model layer. This role goes beyond traditional application testing: you will validate that data survives ingestion and transformation intact, that risk-model outputs are accurate and reproducible, and that the evidence behind those outputs can withstand regulatory audit. Operators use these outputs to prioritize excavation and repair work, so a silently incorrect result matters far more than a visibly broken interface. In your first 90 days, you will establish a framework for automated testing of data pipelines and application software, integrated into CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end test strategy across the UI, APIs, and analytics layers.
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering UI, API contracts and integrations, data validation, and model validation.
- Build regression coverage that runs on every change and gives a reliable signal for release readiness.
- Validate data accuracy through ingestion and transformation, including row-level and field-level reconciliation, schema conformance, and completeness checks across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
- Validate model outputs against baselines and golden datasets, and confirm identical inputs produce reproducible outputs.
- Test edge cases in the risk-calculation path, including missing attributes, boundary values, and conflicting source records.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for Databricks data pipelines and application software, with quality gates at each environment promotion.
- Own test-environment configuration, data seeding, and teardown, and treat flaky tests as defects.
- Coordinate release testing and sign-off, and support performance, load, and security testing.
- Produce audit-defensible test evidence, with traceability from requirements to test results.
- Work with Product and Engineering to define testable acceptance criteria and triage defects early.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of software quality assurance experience, spanning manual and automated testing.
- Strong, hands-on test automation experience across UI and API layers, using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman, or REST Assured.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark.
- Strong SQL skills and the ability to validate data independently.
- Proficiency in Python or JavaScript, sufficient to build and maintain an automation framework.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, including quality gates and environment promotion.
- Experience testing REST APIs, including contract testing, authentication, error handling, and asynchronous workflows.
- Experience with test planning, test-case design, defect management, and release sign-off.
- Working knowledge of Git and branch-based workflows.
- Strong written communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Oil and gas or pipeline industry experience.
- Experience testing data pipelines, ETL processes, or analytics platforms.
- Experience validating machine learning or statistical model outputs.
- Performance and load testing experience (JMeter, k6, or Locust).
- Azure experience, including Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Experience testing multi-tenant SaaS applications.
- Familiarity with geospatial data validation.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) for test automation.
- Experience in a regulated industry where test evidence is subject to external audit.
Working Hours
- This role requires 2–3 hours of daily morning overlap with the team in India, typically from 8 to 11 AM Eastern. Candidates on the US West Coast are welcome, but should be comfortable starting early.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 100,000 per year.
- Comprehensive health plan options, including medical, dental, and vision.
- 401(k) plan with company match.
- Flexible PTO policy plus company-paid holidays.
- Life insurance, pet insurance, and employee discounts and perks.
- One-time work-from-home stipend.
- Company events, including monthly team lunches, volunteer outings, and quarterly gatherings.
