The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall management of engineering operations across the property, with a focus on building systems, preventative maintenance, capital planning, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees the physical plant, including HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical systems, water treatment, and life safety infrastructure, ensuring all equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
This leader manages engineering budgets, monitors controllable expenses, and supports capital expenditure planning and execution. They also supervise construction projects, coordinate service contracts, and lead the emergency response team for all facility issues. In partnership with property and regional leadership, the Director of Engineering helps shape strategies that support guest satisfaction, employee needs, and financial performance while maintaining a safe, secure, and reliable operating environment.
High school diploma or GED with 6+ years of engineering/maintenance experience, or a 2-year degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience.
Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, and/or plumbing systems.
Strong background in property maintenance, preventive maintenance, and life safety systems.
Proven experience managing budgets, expenses, and capital projects [suggestion: in hospitality or a similar environment].
Ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and work with cross-functional stakeholders.
