The Finance Manager will oversee the finance function for the Japanese business, ensuring accurate reporting, effective financial control and compliance with Japanese statutory and tax requirements. The role will manage financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, audits and internal controls.
The successful candidate will lead and develop a small finance team of one or two junior accountants, while working closely with internal stakeholders and the regional Chief Financial Officer. The position will also provide commercial and operational finance advice and support regional or cross-functional initiatives where required.
In addition to finance responsibilities, the role may support related administrative activities, including logistics, human resources administration and information technology coordination. The position is based in the Osaka or Hirakata area, with a hybrid arrangement including one remote-working day per week, subject to applicable terms.
A degree in Accounting or Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 certification.
At least five years’ relevant finance or accounting experience.
Native-level Japanese and business-level English communication skills.
Sound knowledge of Japanese regulations, statutory compliance, taxation and corporate governance.
Experience managing financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, internal controls and audits.
Experience leading or developing a small finance team.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence using business technology; experience with an enterprise resource planning system is preferred.
Excellent analytical, organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to participate in strategic and cross-functional projects and undertake occasional regional travel.
Based in Osaka or Hirakata, Japan, with the legal right to work in Japan.
