What the job entails

As Security, Risk & Governance Manager, you will help strengthen the organisation’s global information and cyber security governance, with a particular focus on cyber risk management. Reporting to the VP of Global IT & Security, you will coordinate the implementation and operation of governance frameworks across international entities, helping ensure that security controls are aligned.

You will lead communication with subsidiary teams on security matters, including software budgeting and procurement, cyber threat intelligence and initiatives related to the Global Information Security Committee. You will also advise on audit and incident reporting, contribute technical expertise to strategic security initiatives, and support the development of policies and standards. Working closely with local IT and security managers, you will help coordinate oversight activities and promote consistent security practices across the organisation. This is a permanent, hybrid role based in Tokyo.

Key requirements

• At least five years’ professional experience in cyber security and IT risk.
• Technical proficiency in areas such as security incident response, penetration testing, cloud security or IT systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001 or the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or experience operating an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
• Business-level written and spoken English and Japanese, including the ability to understand regulatory documentation and prepare internal documents in both languages.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and regions.
• Project management experience and a degree-level qualification, ideally in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• A genuine interest in cyber security and a commitment to keeping up to date with emerging threats, technologies and trends.
• Knowledge of enterprise security concepts such as Zero Trust, Shift Left or defence in depth would be beneficial.
• Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL, relevant cyber security or project management certifications, or experience in the headquarters of a global organisation would be advantageous.
