This project supports the reliable operation and continuous improvement of multiple colocation data centres in the Tokyo area. The successful candidate will contribute to the coordination, oversight and operational support of mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering services, helping maintain high availability, resilience and business continuity across critical infrastructure environments. Working with technology teams, corporate stakeholders and data centre service providers, you will review planned works, incidents, maintenance activities and remediation plans, assessing their potential operational impact across sites.
The client is a global technology services and consulting organisation supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure and complex technology environments. Its data centre operations rely on systems including UPS, generators, cooling and power distribution, delivered in partnership with specialist colocation providers. This role offers valuable exposure to mission-critical infrastructure, structured service management, vendor governance and enterprise-level risk coordination, while providing opportunities to develop expertise in a highly regulated and operationally demanding environment.
Coordinate information flow during M&E-related incidents and provide timely status updates and escalations to designated client contacts.
Support incident, event and problem management, including reviewing reports, identifying trends and tracking remediation actions through to closure.
Coordinate planned and ad-hoc M&E maintenance activities, ensuring risks, operational impacts and mitigation measures are identified and communicated.
Review change submissions and support compliance with agreed change management processes, documentation and reporting requirements.
Coordinate with third-party data centre providers to monitor performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs, as well as compliance with health and safety requirements.
Review vendor documentation, including method statements, risk assessments and permit-to-work submissions.
Support operating budget preparation and review vendor invoices for scope and contractual alignment.
Monitor and report data centre energy consumption and utilisation using information provided by colocation operators.
Experience providing M&E engineering services in mission-critical, data centre or other high-availability environments.
Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, cooling infrastructure and electrical power distribution.
Experience working in regulated environments, including financial services or similarly controlled sectors.
Knowledge of structured service management practices, such as incident, change and problem management.
Experience coordinating vendors, reviewing service performance and managing actions against KPIs and SLAs.
Familiarity with risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work processes and maintenance documentation.
Professional experience communicating in both English and Japanese, in written and verbal contexts.
