Our client, a global biopharmaceutical organisation, is building a new aesthetics franchise ahead of the global launch of its lead asset. This is the first dedicated medical affairs hire into the franchise, working directly with its global medical head.
The first two years are defined: build the scientific narrative, build the external network, and establish the franchise's scientific credibility ahead of launch.
A hands-on role in a lean, pre-launch environment, covering strategy through to delivery, working with cross-functional teams and CRO partners.
Develop and execute the global medical affairs strategy for the aesthetics portfolio, alongside the franchise's global medical head
Lead the integrated evidence generation plan and shape the post-marketing Phase IV programme: design input, endpoints and site selection, ready to begin at launch
Establish and run a scientific advisory board to guide the evidence programme
Build the external network: HCP and KOL relationships, key institutions and investigators, society and congress presence
Lead medical affairs activity at major congresses and represent the organisation to expert groups, medical societies and regulatory audiences
Build the scientific narrative and help define the asset's target product and value profiles
Build the annual strategic and tactical plans, the asset budget and the five-year plan; manage the tactical budget through execution
Core member of the global franchise and asset development teams, across commercial, R&D, finance and corporate communications
Contribute to training design and content for the future field medical organisation
Reports to the SVP-level global medical head for the franchise. Based from Paris, London or the Boston/Cambridge area, hybrid, with travel up to 40%.
Ownership of medical affairs strategy at global level, or across global and regional remits
Senior medical director level, or a strong director ready for the step up
Experience with new assets: market preparation, launch and the evidence generation that follows
Experience shaping post-marketing or Phase IV programmes: design input, endpoints, site selection, CRO-delivered execution
A history of building HCP and KOL networks, and the appetite to do it again for a new franchise
Comfortable working hands-on in a lean environment, without established structure or a large team behind you
Cross-functional experience at global or regional level; not a role for a single-country career
The scientific standing to hold your own with investigators, medical societies and regulatory audiences
Aesthetics experience and relationships in its medical community are an advantage, not a requirement
Located in Paris, London or Boston/Cambridge area, or open to relocation.
The portfolio starts with the lead asset and grows from there. So does the function: this is the first medical affairs hire into the franchise, not the last.
