The Senior GL Accountant reports to the Finance Controller and plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy of financial statements under both US GAAP and JGAAP. This role is responsible for day-to-day general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reserves, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
The position also oversees tax compliance and audit readiness, including preparation of corporate tax, consumption tax, and depreciable assets tax filings, and coordination of external audits, internal audits, and SOX testing. In addition, the role provides timely and accurate accounting information to FP&A and commercial teams, prepares required disclosure materials for the global team, and helps drive improvements in accounting processes, internal controls, and financial operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
10+ years of experience in JGAAP and US GAAP accounting
10+ years of tax-related experience
Strong SAP and Excel skills; HFM experience is a plus
Business-level English communication skills
