As a Backend Engineer, Core Banking System, you will help develop and operate the core banking platform for a major financial-services organization. Working within a newly established team, you will contribute to the full-scratch development of core banking logic and help establish engineering standards for the organization.
Your responsibilities will include developing backend applications in C and Java, designing highly performant and stable financial-platform architectures, and supporting the operation and continuous improvement of production systems. You will also participate in middleware selection, system tuning, monitoring, and alerting for microservices-based applications.
This role offers the opportunity to influence foundational architecture and development practices while working on systems where reliability, security, scalability, and performance are essential.
Three to five years of professional backend development experience.
Practical experience developing in C or Java, with strong programming fundamentals.
Experience designing schemas for relational or NoSQL databases.
Ability to write efficient database queries and understand performance considerations.
Experience with web application development and performance tuning.
Strong awareness of security-conscious software design.
Business-level Japanese proficiency, equivalent to native fluency or JLPT N1/N2.
Experience with banking or other financial-services systems is preferred.
Experience working with both C and Java is preferred.
Familiarity with REST APIs, publish/subscribe messaging, AWS, and microservices architecture is preferred.
Experience designing large-scale systems is preferred.
Familiarity with Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, MySQL, AuroraDB, DynamoDB, or Redis is advantageous.
Business English proficiency is a plus.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively in a diverse, cross-functional engineering environment.
