As VMD Senior Manager and department lead, you will shape and execute the visual identity of the brand across its Japan store network. Reporting directly to the CEO for Japan and Korea, you will lead a team of four and oversee creative production, window displays, store design, and visual merchandising standards across approximately 77 locations.
You will partner with global headquarters while adapting international direction to Japanese consumer preferences and market conditions. The role requires a confident creative leader who can advocate for local needs, challenge headquarters constructively when appropriate, and maintain strong brand consistency. Extensive travel will be required, including visits to stores and regional team members. You will also contribute to showroom and store-design presentations and work cross-functionally to deliver compelling, commercially effective retail environments.
Significant visual merchandising experience within the fashion industry, gained in a domestic, affordable, premium, or luxury fashion brand.
Proven experience leading visual merchandising across multiple retail locations, including stores and outlet environments.
Strong creative judgment and the ability to develop impactful window displays, store designs, and in-store presentations.
Strategic mindset with the confidence to challenge global headquarters constructively while maintaining effective international collaboration.
Deep understanding of Japanese consumers and the ability to localize global brand direction for the Japanese market.
Experience managing and developing a team, with the ability to coordinate work across multiple locations.
Native-level Japanese communication skills.
Willingness to travel extensively within Japan.
Strong portfolio demonstrating visual merchandising, creative production, window displays, and store-design work.
Ability to balance creativity, commercial objectives, operational execution, and brand standards.
