As Vice President of Engineering for the AI Area – Domestic New Business, you will lead the development and operation of AI-driven products and capabilities for the Japanese market. Reporting to the Business Unit Leader, you will shape the organization, operating model, and technical direction needed to scale a high-impact AI business.
You will oversee commercial product development and operations, with particular responsibility for bringing LLM- and AI-agent features into production and continuously improving their quality, reliability, and business value. The role involves close collaboration with AI, Product, Engineering, executive leadership, and overseas teams.
You will also build and develop the AI organization by attracting talent, coaching leaders, designing teams, strengthening management practices, and establishing scalable processes. Success will require sound judgment, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to translate ambitious AI opportunities into effective products and sustainable operations.
At least three years of recent experience in commercial product development and operations.
Hands-on experience developing and operating LLM or AI-agent features in production.
At least three years of experience in people management and organizational management.
Experience leading talent acquisition, coaching, team design, manager development, performance evaluation, and scalable people-management processes.
Strong ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across AI, Product, Engineering, business, and international teams.
Fluent, business-level Japanese communication skills.
English-language communication skills, particularly for written business communication.
Based in Japan and able to work onsite in Tokyo.
