The company is looking for a Tech Lead to join its engineering team in Hong Kong.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position focused heavily on software architecture, system design and engineering excellence.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the evolution and modernisation of the company's technology platform, including the transition of existing backend APIs from TypeScript / NestJS towards Kotlin / Spring Boot.
You will work closely with senior technology stakeholders and engineers on architectural decisions, technical strategy and implementation.
A quantitative finance background is not required. The key requirement is strong software engineering capability, particularly in architecture and system design.
Lead the technical design and architecture of backend services and APIs.
Support the transition towards Kotlin / Spring Boot.
Design scalable, reliable and maintainable distributed systems.
Own architectural decisions and evaluate technology trade-offs.
Work closely with senior engineers and technology leadership on technical strategy.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members.
Review technical designs and ensure high standards of code quality and engineering practices.
Identify technical risks and develop practical solutions.
Contribute hands-on to software development where required.
Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
Strong professional experience in software engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot, or comparable JVM-based technologies.
Proven experience in system architecture and system design.
Experience designing and developing APIs and backend services.
Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable architecture.
Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures is highly desirable.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and knowledge of clean, maintainable code.
Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer, Senior Software Engineer or similar.
Ability to make sound technical decisions and clearly communicate architectural trade-offs.
TypeScript / Node.js / NestJS experience.
Experience with backend modernisation or technology migration projects.
FinTech, financial services, SaaS or other technology-sector experience.
Cloud-native development experience.
Experience mentoring or technically leading engineers.
