As a Field Support Engineer, you will provide onsite IT support at a customer location in Kuroishi, Aomori. You will troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, printers, telephony devices, mobile devices, peripherals, and conference room audio/visual equipment.
You will install and support Microsoft 365 applications, business software, Windows 11 environments, Apple devices, printers, and VoIP phones. You will also assist with enterprise hardware—including network equipment, servers, racks, and patch panels—under the direction of remote teams.
The role includes managing incidents and service requests through a ticketing system, meeting service-level targets, maintaining knowledge articles, supporting VIP users, and contributing to service improvements and automation. Successful candidates must complete mandatory two-week training in Hachioji, Tokyo, before beginning the assignment. This is an onsite, fixed-term contract position; having a vehicle is highly recommended for commuting.
Native-level Japanese or JLPT N1 communication skills; approximately 90% of the work is conducted in Japanese.
Two to four years of experience in onsite or field desktop support; three to five years of overall relevant experience is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Windows 11 administration, end-user computing tools, remote support tools, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, operating systems, printers, fax machines, telephony equipment, peripherals, and business applications.
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook.
Knowledge of ITIL processes, including incident, change, problem, and service request management.
Experience using ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow or Remedy, including meeting SLA targets and maintaining accurate ticket records.
Understanding of VPNs, mobile device support, printer configuration, VoIP phones, and conference room technology.
Ability to support operating system deployment through PXE, USB ISO, or Microsoft Configuration Manager.
Familiarity with Active Directory, tablet support, and basic smart-hands-and-feet activities.
Ability to complete onsite training in Hachioji, Tokyo, and commute to the customer site in Kuroishi, Aomori; access to a personal vehicle is highly recommended.
Ability to lift or move computer and network equipment weighing up to 20 kilograms.
