Our client is an international footwear and fashion retailer with a strong presence in Japan and a growing portfolio of products beyond shoes, including accessories, apparel, and lifestyle items. The company combines global brand heritage with a locally focused commercial approach, creating opportunities for leaders who understand the Japanese market and can help shape its next phase of growth.
Employees work in a collaborative, experienced environment supported by a strong global team. The culture values commercial initiative, clear communication, teamwork, and the confidence to bring forward new ideas. This is an attractive opportunity to join a recognized international brand, influence wholesale strategy, and work directly with senior regional and global stakeholders.
As Wholesale Director, Japan and Korea, you will lead the wholesale business in Japan and, depending on your interest and market experience, may also oversee Korea. You will manage a mature two-person Japan wholesale team, working with approximately 40 Japanese accounts and three agencies, as well as approximately 15 Korean accounts where applicable.
You will own wholesale strategy, sales growth, volume and gross profit performance, forecasting, budgeting, and cost control. A key priority will be expanding the SKU and category mix and moving the business in a more commercially focused direction. You will also strengthen customer relationships, develop growth initiatives and channels, support seasonal go-to-market planning, and deliver compelling business presentations and negotiations in English to global headquarters.
The role is based onsite in Tokyo and reports formally to the Japan General Manager, with significant direct interaction with the Global CEO and Chief Commercial Officer.
