As the organisation is establishing its presence in Japan, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become its first local team member, shape the Japanese operation and work closely with senior regional leadership.
As Corporate Account Manager, you will develop and manage corporate insurance and employee benefits accounts in Japan. You will build trusted relationships with Japanese corporate clients, understand their requirements and provide suitable group medical, employee benefits and related insurance solutions.
Your responsibilities will include managing existing accounts, supporting renewals, localising international plans and coordinating with insurers and the regional headquarters. You will also contribute to business development by identifying prospective clients, presenting solutions and pursuing opportunities to upsell and cross-sell relevant services.
The role combines account management, insurance placement and sales. You will be expected to manage the client and insurer sides of each engagement, negotiate terms where appropriate and ensure that clients receive responsive, commercially focused service. Working independently, you will help establish the brokerage’s profile and client base in Japan.
Fluent or native-level Japanese, with the ability to sell to and manage Japanese corporate clients.
Business-fluent English, enabling effective communication with the Asia-Pacific headquarters and international insurers.
Experience in insurance, ideally between two and five years; candidates with one to three years’ relevant experience may also be considered.
Background in corporate or group insurance, employee benefits, group medical, group life or related commercial insurance.
Proven experience in account management, including client servicing, renewals and relationship management.
Strong preference for experience in new business development, prospecting, client acquisition, upselling or cross-selling.
Strong preference for exposure to insurance placement or broking, including negotiating terms and liaising with insurers.
Understanding of Japanese corporates and the local insurance market.
A proactive, entrepreneurial and independent approach, with the confidence to help establish a new local operation.
