Role Purpose
As the Industrial Engineering Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering organisation responsible for developing robust, scalable and efficient manufacturing processes across the product lifecycle.
You will play a key role in transforming new product concepts into stable, cost-effective and production-ready solutions, working closely with R&D, Operations and international manufacturing sites to ensure successful New Product Introductions (NPI), plant-to-plant transfers and technology implementation.
This is a highly influential leadership role with responsibility for the quality, speed and cost of manufacturing execution. You will shape manufacturing strategies, drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, champion automation and digitalisation, and introduce innovative production technologies to strengthen operational performance.
You will also develop and coach a high-performing engineering team covering areas such as Value Stream Engineering, Process Engineering, Test Engineering and Smart Manufacturing / Tools.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Industrial Engineering organisation, establishing clear priorities, performance objectives and technical capabilities aligned with business and manufacturing strategies.
Drive NPI and industrialisation activities, ensuring prototypes, pilot builds and new products transition successfully into stable, scalable and cost-effective serial production.
Partner closely with R&D and cross-functional stakeholders to implement Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) and Design-for-Assembly (DFA) principles.
Develop and optimise manufacturing value streams and production processes using Lean Manufacturing methodologies, including line balancing, production layout, workstation design, process flow and capacity optimisation.
Lead the development, qualification and implementation of manufacturing technologies, including production equipment, automation, tooling, jigs, fixtures and product-specific test solutions.
Establish robust manufacturing standards and process controls, including work instructions, control plans, qualification protocols and testing procedures.
Lead plant-to-plant transfers, continuous improvement projects and technology implementation initiatives, working with international manufacturing sites, suppliers and global stakeholders.
Drive improvements in quality, productivity, capacity, flexibility and manufacturing cost.
Manage departmental resources, budgets and project portfolios while ensuring engineering projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Build a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, while developing and mentoring the engineering team.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering. A Master's degree would be advantageous.
Minimum 10 years of experience in electronic products manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership capacity within an international manufacturing environment.
Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering methodologies.
Solid understanding of manufacturing technologies relevant to electronic, sensor or highly engineered products.
Proven experience in manufacturing industrialisation and NPI, including prototype/pilot builds, process validation, equipment qualification, product transfers and transition to serial production.
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, developing talent and managing complex projects and competing priorities.
Strong problem-solving and innovation mindset, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, suppliers and international manufacturing sites.
Business-fluent English is required.
Resilient and adaptable leadership style, with the ability to manage conflict, navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions in a complex and changing manufacturing environment.
