Job Title: Quality Inspector – Solar & BESS
Location: Saudi Arabia (onsite at project site)
About the Role
Our client, a renewable energy developer active in Saudi Arabia, is hiring a Quality Inspector to ensure all site activities, construction, installation, testing and commissioning on a ~50MW Solar and ~200MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project comply with approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), specifications, international standards, contract requirements and SEC standards. The role is central to achieving safe, compliant and reliable execution of the hybrid power plant, working closely with the Site Manager and wider project management team.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Site Manager in coordinating on-site activities from site assessment and feasibility through design, procurement, installation and commissioning, up to successful handover to the O&M team.
Conduct daily inspections of civil, mechanical and electrical works across the solar, BESS and LV/MV equipment.
Create and manage ITPs across all project disciplines, ensuring quality and holding point inspections are clearly defined ahead of execution activities.
Ensure quality control and assurance is properly implemented on site, coordinating with contractors, suppliers, subcontractors and the client on the scheduling and completion of required inspections.
Witness, record and document all inspections, tests and commissioning activities, or ensure an authorised representative can do so.
Verify that work is executed in accordance with method statements, IFC drawings and ITPs, and complies with Saudi/GCC standards, grid interconnection codes and local utility requirements, as well as international standards such as IEC and IEEE.
Champion a Zero Accident Target culture, ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with environmental best practice and community protection.
Provide technical support and guidance to installers, technicians and other professionals working across solar, BESS and electrical systems.
Embed electrical safety practices on site, including permit to work, LOTO, working at heights, and MV/HV safety, and monitor crew compliance.
Ensure inspections are scheduled in line with the approved baseline schedule and the rolling 3-week look-ahead.
Track progress of quality inspections and prepare regular reports on ITP status for the Site Manager and Head of PMO.
Inspect all delivered materials and equipment, preparing reception reports and recording any damage, defects or non-conformities.
Witness and support testing and commissioning inspections, verify as-built drawings, documents and quality job books, and support partial and final handover of systems.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
5–7 years of relevant experience in solar and/or BESS projects, ideally spanning both construction and commissioning phases, with civil and mechanical exposure.
Proven experience on greenfield, ground-mount solar farms (10MW+) and large-scale BESS installations (2MVA/8MWh+) strongly preferred.
Strong written and spoken English (Arabic is a plus).
Comfortable working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and travelling to and from site regularly.
Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD is an advantage.
Strong safety mindset and commitment to HSE best practice.
Desirable
Knowledge of battery chemistries, BESS thermal management and BMS architecture.
Experience with PV electrical activities and SCADA/EMS for storage and solar plants.
Fluent in Arabic.
